The nature enthusiasts can visit head towards the Marine Museum and the Fisheries Museum to experience the beauty natural wonders. For purchase of local souvenirs, one can head to the Aberdeen Bazaar, which is famous for amazing wooden handicrafts and beautiful shells.

 

Fairs and Festivals

One of the major festivals of Andaman & Nicobar is the Island Tourism Festival, which is a 10 days festival held annually, starting from 5th January. The place hosts exciting events that mirrors local art, dance forms, music and food. Apart from this, Music Festival (August – September), Food Festival & World Tourism Day Celebrations (September), Film Festival (November) and Beach Festival (April) are ideal events to feed your tired souls with some vigour. 

 

Food

The place is heaven for the tropical cuisine lovers. The food served here is freshly made with locally found spices, voicing the local cultures. The restaurant beaches are highly popular among the travelers where they can enjoy some lip smacking local dishes while relaxing under the sun. Mango, banana, orange, pineapple and guava are some of the main fruits found in the island.

 

Shopping

Every nook and corner of Andaman and Nicobar Islands offers amazing opportunities to shop some great souvenirs including handmade coconut shell lamp shades, Nicobari mats, wooden trays and walking sticks featuring intricate design.

The Sagarika Government Emporium is the perfect destination to shop for handicrafts. Aberdeen Bazaar is another great option for gratifying your shopping instinct.

 

Best time to Visit

The best time to head towards these gorgeous islands is between January and mid-May. The weather during this time is usually sunny with cool winds. The months from August till December also bring in light showers and are thus, not ideal those visiting here to partake in underwater activities.

 

How to Reach

By Air - Veer Savarkar International Airport or Port Blair Airport connects Andaman and Nicobar to all the major Indian cities including Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai

 

By Sea - Travellers can also plan to experience a voyage by sea to eye the unspoilt beauty of the landscapes nestling Andaman and Nicobar. Port Blair is the intermediate port that caters as the main port of these islands
